DBM approves P3.39-B for PNP personnel’s performance-based bonus
The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) on Thursday announced it has approved the release of P3.39 billion to cover the payment of the Fiscal Year 2023 Performance-Based Bonus (PBB) of Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel.
In a statement, the DBM said the P3.39 billion released will benefit 225,545 qualified officials and personnel of the PNP.
The Budget Department said each qualified PNP official and personnel will receive a PBB equivalent to 45.5% of their monthly basic salary as of December 31, 2023.
To be eligible for the bonus, the agency said that “those in the First, Second, and Third Levels must have achieved at least a ‘Very Satisfactory’ rating under the Civil Service Commission-approved Strategic Performance Management System or the equivalent rating required by the Career Executive Service Board.”
The PBB for qualified PNP officials and personnel will be charged against the Miscellaneous Personnel Benefits Fund (MPBF) under Republic Act No. 12116, or the Fiscal Year 2025 General Appropriations Act (GAA), according to the DBM.
The Budget Department added that the payment of the 2023 PBB follows the Final Eligibility Assessment (FEA) Report dated September 16, 2024, from the Administrative Order No. 25 Inter-Agency Task Force (AO25 IATF), confirming the PNP’s eligibility for the grant of said bonus.
The agency said the release of the PBB for the PNP personnel was in line with the directive of President Ferdinand Marcos to strengthen the morale and welfare of government workers, especially our law enforcement frontliners.
“Our police officers are among the pillars of our nation. They stand at the frontlines of peace and order every single day. We see their hard work and dedication, so we are making sure they receive what is rightfully due to them,” said Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman.
“Through this release, we not only recognize their service but also reaffirm our commitment to a government that rewards performance and accountability,” added Pangandaman. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
