NDRRMC: 2 dead, 2 missing amid Ramil wrath
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council has recorded two deaths while two remain missing amid the onslaught of Tropical Storm Ramil as of Sunday night.
In its 8 p.m. situation report, the NDRRMC said a total of 26,878 individuals from Region 2 (Cagayan Valley), Calabarzon, Region 5 (Bicol Region), and Region 8 (Eastern Visayas) were preemptively evacuated.
It added that 6,602 families or 20,041 individuals have been affected so far by the weather disturbance.
The NDRRMC said 11,966 persons were displaced, of which 5,909 were temporarily sheltered in 102 evacuation centers.
A total of P274,026 worth of assistance has been given to affected families so far.
Meanwhile, 43 cities and municipalities have declared class suspensions while two cities or municipalities have declared work suspensions as well.
The NDRRMC also recorded 13 flooded areas in MIMAROPA and Eastern Visayas as a result of rains dumped by Ramil.
There was no data yet on damages to housing, agriculture, and infrastructure.
In its 11 p.m. bulletin, the state weather bureau said Ramil continues to move west northwestward away from the Philippine landmass and was last spotted 155 kilometers west northwest of Iba, Zambales over the West Philippine Sea.
