How did he do it? Ping Lacson declares P244.9 million net worth
Sen. Panfilo Lacson on Monday disclosed a net worth of more than P244.9 million as of June 30, 2025.
The amount is up from the net worth of more than P58 million he declared when his previous term in the Senate ended on June 30, 2022.
"When I left the senate in 2022, along with 2 business partners, we engaged in some legitimate and successful real estate/trading business activities, hence the substantial spike in my net worth," the Senate President Pro Tempore said.
Lacson said he would provide further details of his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth for 2025 "including my ITRs for 2023 and 2024 as obtained."
According to Lacson, his net worth was P58,771,409.62 as of June 30, 2022.
"As of June 30, 2025 when I returned to the Senate: Net worth - P244,940,509.60," Lacson said.
He said that according to the income tax return he filed in 2022 for the taxable year 2021, he paid P4,817,265 in income tax.
In the ITR he filed in 2025 for taxable year 2024, he paid P11,834,033.37.
Earlier in the day, Sen. Risa Hontiveros released a copy of her 2024 SALN, as part of her transparency efforts.
Based on her 2024 SALN, Hontiveros declared a net worth of P18.986 million. Her assets, including real and personal properties, were at P19.884 million, while her liabilities, particularly a car loan, were at P897,840.
The lady senator previously said that she fully supports the removal of the restrictions on access to public officials’ SALNs, which she described as "unjust, unconstitutional and anti-people."
She also said that opening of SALNs is a good step in strengthening the transparency and accountability amid the corruption allegations in the government. –NB, GMA Integrated News
