Ombudsman: Ex-QC congressman to name names, tell all about flood control projects
A former lawmaker in Quezon City has sent feelers indicating an intention to tell all about anomalous flood control projects, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said on Wednesday.
Remulla said a friend of his called on Wednesday morning to say that the former congressman wants to testify on what he knows about the flood control projects in the city.
Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said last month that there are at least 35 flood control projects missing in Quezon City.
“Nakatanggap rin ako ng tawag, very early in the morning, isang kaibigan ko, parang siyang go-between sa isang congressman from Quezon City who wants to tell all,” Remulla said in a press conference.
(I received a call today from a friend, this person is the go-between of a former Quezon City lawmaker.)
"So, we'll wait. I will work on that. Sasabihin niya iyong involvement niya sa lahat na nangyayari, at saka kung paano nangyayari lahat ‘yan,” he added.
(This former House member wants to tell everything, the lawmaker's possible involvement, and how the flood control mess happened.)
Remulla said the lawmaker is no longer an incumbent. He did not say which district in Quezon City the former lawmaker used to represent.
Meanwhile, Remulla has expressed grave concern over the fire incident in the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Quezon City office on Wednesday.
He said this could be a move to destroy evidence amid the ongoing investigation on anomalous flood control projects.
“I am asking the NBI and the BFP to check if there's arson... I'm sure that there are backup documents. It is a working day so people were able to save their computers, which contain the information,” Remulla said.
He said it would be easy to determine whether or not the fire was arson.
“It's disturbing that in a place like Quezon City, may masusunog yung record sa isang office na maraming investigation pa ang kinakailangang mangyari. We're just worried that it might stifle some or become an excuse to evade responsibility,” Remulla said.
(It is disturbing that there was a fire in an office that is relevant to the ongoing investigation.)
The fire incident in DPWH Quezon City reached third alarm but was declared out by 2 p.m. –NB, GMA Integrated News
