Manila releases Undas 2025 guidelines

The Manila city government on Thursday issued its guidelines and preparations for an orderly and safe observance of Undas 2025 next weekend.

All types of vehicles – such as motorcycles, e-bikes, tricycles, and cars – are prohibited from entering the Manila North and South Cemeteries from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2. The two cemeteries will be open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The last day for cleaning, repainting, and repairing tombs will be on Oct. 26 at the Manila South Cemetery and on Oct. 27 at the Manila North Cemetery.

Meanwhile, the last day for burials at both cemeteries will be on Oct. 28.

Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said the same guidelines and schedules will be implemented at the Manila Islamic Cemetery.

The Manila South Cemetery earlier announced its protocols for the observance of Undas 2025, during which Filipinos flock to cemeteries on Nov. 1 (All Saints’ Day) and Nov. 2 (All Souls’ Day) to pay their respects to their departed loved ones.

The Manila North Cemetery also previously advised the public that pets are strictly not allowed inside the cemetery during Undas.

Meanwhile, Domagoso said the public may use the online “Puntod Finders” of ManilaNorthCemetery.ph and ManilaSouthCemetery.com in finding the graves of their departed loved ones.

The digital platforms also feature a tagging system for children, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.

Emergency responders and other authorities will be deployed to Manila’s cemeteries to ensure public safety.

Items such as firearms, bladed weapons, alcoholic beverages, pets, loud sound systems, and flammable materials such as alcohol and thinner are strictly prohibited inside cemeteries.

Domagoso also reminded the public to dispose of their trash properly, refrain from vending inside cemeteries, and remain vigilant amid the large crowds. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
