ICI to draft rules before livestreaming hearings on flood control projects

The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI) will first draft the rules of procedure and parameters before livestreaming its proceedings on the allegedly anomalous flood control projects, executive director Brian Keith Hosaka said Thursday.

Hosaka said the ICI would hold no hearings next week because ICI commissioner Rogelio Singson "would not be available."

“We hear the clamor of the Filipino people for more transparency, and we are pushing to livestream the hearings as soon as possible,” Hosaka said, reading the statement of ICI chairman Andres Reyes Jr.

“However, before we do so, the ICI would need to study and draft the rules of procedure and parameters to allow for live streaming, taking into consideration sensitive information and the constitutional rights of invited resource persons,” he added.

Reyes on Wednesday told the Senate Committee on Justice and Human Rights that the ICI wold livestream its proceedings on the flood control controversy beginning next week.

Hosaka said ICI will show the rules of procedure and parameters once the draft is ready.

Asked if there will be access to previous hearings, Hosaka said to wait for the guidelines and rules.

The ICI initially said its hearings uld wonot be livestreamed to avoid ‘trial by publicity’ and any political influence. —NB, GMA Integrated News
