DPWH's Dizon sees flood control corruption accused jailed by Christmas
Some accused in flood control corruption cases may be arrested and jailed by Christmas, according to Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Vince Dizon on Friday.
“Sa tingin ko, sa kulungan na sila magpa-Pasko niyan,” Dizon told GMA Integrated News’ Unang Balita in an interview when asked when will the accused in flood control scandal be arrested.
(I think some accused will spend their Christmas in jail.)
Dizon said the first individuals that may be arrested are the implicated persons in the complaint filed before the Office of the Ombudsman in September.
These include former DPWH district engineer Henry Alcantara and former Bulacan 1st district assistant engineers Brice Hernandez and Jaypee Mendoza, as well as contractor Sarah Discaya of St. Timothy Construction Corporation.
“Ang sabi po ni Ombudsman Boying Remulla, iyon pong unang kasong finile natin noong September 13 ay 'yan ang pinakamabilis na may makukulong. Kasama po d'yan 'yung mga notorious na taga-First District of Bulacan, sina Alcantara, Hernandez et cetera. At kasama din po sila Sarah Discaya,” Dizon said.
(Ombudsman Boying Remulla said that the first case we filed on September 13 is the fastest to get some personalities in jail. This includes notorious people from the First District of Bulacan, Alcantara, Hernandez, et cetera. And Sarah Discaya is also among them.)
“Tingin ko baka linggo na lang ho ang binibilang na d'yan dahil pagkaupo na pagkaupo po ni Ombudsman Boying Remulla ay sinimulan na niya 'yan, ang proseso d'yan, kaya tingin ko po kaunti na lang po. Sunod-sunod na po ito,” he added.
(I think maybe the arrest will be done in the next few weeks because as soon as Ombudsman Boying Remulla took office, he started the process, so I think we are already close.)
Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla recently inspected Quezon City Jail - Male Dormitory and Pasay City Jail.
According to him, the Quezon City Jail - Male Dormitory is ready to detain individuals involved in flood control corruption with Salary Grade 27 and up.
Pasay City Jail is also prepared to house involved personalities with Salary Grade 26 and below, Remulla added.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
