Henry Alcantara, Brice Hernandez face Ombudsman investigators
Former Bulacan 1st district engineer Henry Alcantara is set to go to the Office of the Ombudsman on Friday as part of the anti-graft body’s fact-finding investigation into the anomalous flood control projects.
This was confirmed by Assistant Ombudsman Mico Clavano to members of the media ahead of the Senate Committee on Finance’s deliberations into the proposed P6.390 billion budget of the Office of the Ombudsman for fiscal year 2026.
Clavano said that former Bulacan 1st assistant district engineer Brice Hernandez first faced the Ombudsman investigators on Thursday.
“Brice Hernandez was in the Ombudsman yesterday for fact finding. So he was met by investigators of the FIO (field investigation office) and today, Alcantara is there,” he said.
Earlier on Friday, Hernandez was seen being brought to a holding room of the Senate due to unknown reasons.
Both Hernandez and Alcantara are currently detained at the Senate after being cited in contempt by the Senate blue ribbon committee.
Asked if Hernandez was seeking help from the Ombudsman to be brought out of Senate detention, Clavano said, “Nung DOJ (Department of Justice) kami po, ganon na ‘yung request niya.”
(He has been requesting such since we were in the DOJ.)
The former engineers of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), as well as contractors Curlee and Sarah Disacaya, are currently considered as protected witnesses under the DOJ’s Witness Protection Program. — Giselle Ombay/RSJ, GMA Integrated News
