PCG on heightened alert from Oct. 30 to Nov. 4 for Undas 2025
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) will be on heightened alert status from October 30 to November 4 in preparation for Undas 2025.
During a press briefing, PCG spokesperson Captain Noemie Cayabyab said all Coast Guard districts, stations, and sub-stations were directed to intensify monitoring and assistance operations in ports and waterways.
"This includes putting on alert and deployment of floating assets, air assets and land mobility to assista local government units," Cayabyab said.
In 2024, PCG recorded over two million incoming and outgoing passengers in Philippine ports.
Anticipating a possible increase in numbers, PCG said it is increasing security layering in ports and improving passenger safety management.
“We are in partnership with the Philippine Ports Authority, the Maritime Industry Authority, the other law enforcement agencies, and of course, ship owners and passengers,” the Coast Guard officer said.
Meanwhile, Cayabyab said lifeguards and rescue teams are stationed in tourist destinations to respond to emergencies during the holiday.
“They will be strategically located in beaches, island resorts and other coastal tourist destinations," she said, adding that rescue swimmers and medical teams will also be on standby.—Jiselle Anna Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
