Manila North Cemetery sets security measures as 2M people expected on Undas
Security measures are being implemented at Manila North Cemetery as people continue to visit the tombs of their loved ones ahead of the All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day on November 1 and 2, a cemetery official said Monday.
Manila North Cemetery director Mr. Daniel Tan said a total of 64 CCTV cameras with zoom capabilities have been installed and more security personnel have been deployed around the cemetery.
“Alam ninyo naman ang mayor natin sobrang sipag. Sabi niya kailangan mahigpit tayo. May mga CCTVs kami diyan. Tapos marami tayong mga civilian na security. Nang sa ganun, para 'yung mga ‘tolonges’ na kung ano naman ang masamang balak nila, huwag dito sa Maynila,” Tan told GMA Integrated News’ Unang Balita in an interview.
(You know our mayor is very hardworking. He said we need to be strict. We have CCTVs there. Then you have a lot of civilian security. So, if those ‘tolonges’ have any evil plans, don’t do it here in Manila.)
Pets, sharp items, firearms, sound system, musical instruments, and vendors are prohibited inside Manila North Cemetery, according to Tan.
The cemetery director advised visitors to bring their own garbage bags and avoid littering.
For senior citizens, free e-trike rides will be available on October 29 to 31 while wheelchairs will be offered on November 1 and 2.
On Sunday, around 37,000 visitors were recorded at the cemetery a week ahead of Undas. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
