Palace confirms appointment of lawyer Lito Magno as NBI OIC
Malacañang on Monday confirmed that lawyer Angelito “Lito” Magno was appointed as the officer-in-charge of the National Bureau of Investigation.
This came after President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. accepted the resignation of NBI director Jaime Santiago.
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro confirmed this during a press briefing at the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Malaysia.
A veteran agent and lawyer, Magno rose through the NBI ranks — from line agent to Deputy Director for Investigative Services.
Magno is also known for his expertise in investigations, ICT, and law enforcement leadership.
In August, Santiago resigned from his post, saying "detractors and those who have sinister interest" in his position have "incessantly" made moves to besmirch his reputation.
Santiago on Monday said Marcos has accepted his irrevocable resignation. —KG, GMA Integrated News
