484 inmates released in October — BuCor

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) on Monday announced that 484 persons deprived of liberty were released from October 1 to October 27, 2025.

According to BuCor, 192 were from the New Bilibid Prison, 78 were from the Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm, 63 were from the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm, 50 were from the Davao Prison and Penal Farm, 48 were from the Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm, 27 from the Leyte Regional Prison, and 26 were from the Correctional Institution for Women.

Meanwhile, of the number, 308 were released due to an expired maximum sentence, 101 were acquitted, 37 were released on parole, 21 were granted probation, and 16 were granted habeas corpus.

During the culminating ceremony at the NBP, BuCor Director General Gregorio Catapang Jr. urged the PDLs to utilize the skills they learned while detained. He also urged them to avoid negative influences.

BuCor said it has committed to releasing 10,000 PDLs this year.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
