Marcos to attend APEC Summit 2025 in South Korea
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. will participate in the 32nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in South Korea later this week, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said on Tuesday.
According to DFA spokesperson Angelica Escalona, Marcos will be in South Korea from October 30 to November 2.
"The President’s participation is centered on advancing the Philippine’s economic interests, forging deeper ties with APEC members and reaffirming our commitment to APEC's vision of a more open, prosperous and dynamic Asia-Pacific in a rapidly transforming regional landscape," Escalona said.
Four outcome documents are expected to be secured during the Summit, the DFA spokesperson added.
Aside from APEC activities, Marcos will also meet with members of the Filipino community in Busan. He will also have meetings with various business leaders and executives.
Escalona said the President’s visit would conclude with the wreath laying and tree planting ceremony at the United Nations Memorial Cemetery in Busan in honor of the 7,420 Filipino soldiers who fought during the Korean war as members of the Philippine Expeditionary Forces to Korea.
