PNP on heightened alert for Undas 2025
The Philippine National Police on Tuesday said it will be on heightened alert status from October 29 to November 3 to secure the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.
Heightened alert status means the PNP will increase its personnel strength by 25% to reinforce existing deployments in public places such as cemeteries, transport terminals, major roads, and areas of convergence.
Regional Directors have been authorized to increase deployment depending on local security conditions, according to the PNP.
A total of 50,253 PNP personnel will be deployed nationwide to implement security and public safety measures during Undas.
They will be supported by 16,592 personnel from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), as well as 45,712 force multipliers.
“This is a time when we expect large gatherings and movements of people, so we are making sure our police presence is felt everywhere, from cemeteries to major highways. The goal is simple: a safe, stable, and secured Undas for everyone,” PNP acting chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said in a statement.
So far, the PNP said no threats have been monitored in connection with the observance of Undas
The PNP said security efforts will be focused on five major cemeteries in Metro Manila—the Manila North Cemetery, Manila South Cemetery, Bagbag Public Cemetery, Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina, and San Juan Public Cemetery.
A total of 5,015 police assistance desks (PADS) will be set up.
“We call on the public to observe cemetery rules and avoid bringing prohibited items such as bladed weapons, liquor, or gambling paraphernalia,” PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said.
“Our police officers will be on the ground to assist and guide everyone, not to cause inconvenience. Let’s make Undas 2025 safe and meaningful for all,” he added.
Meanwhile, Transportation Assistant Secretary Maricar Bautista assured that their department is fully prepared for the Undas rush.
