70-year-old helper beaten to death with grinder in Taytay, Rizal
A 70-year-old helper was killed after she was repeatedly struck with a grinder in Taytay, Rizal.
According to EJ Gomez’s Tuesday report on “24 Oras,” authorities found the victim’s body lying on the floor inside a house in Barangay San Isidro, where she was employed.
Police said the suspect is the house’s former caretaker, who hit the victim at least eight times using the electric grinder.
The victim reportedly offered the suspect, who owed her money, a job. The suspect accepted it, but their conversation later turned into an argument.
According to police, the suspect claimed the victim made insulting remarks about her family and that the victim was the first to hurt her.
The victim, who was hit on the head, died due to a hemorrhagic shock. Her face was unrecognizable due to the severity of her injuries.
In a follow-up operation, police arrested the suspect at her child’s house in Rodriguez, Rizal. It was her husband who provided her location.
The suspect admitted to the crime, saying that she was offended when the victim told her that her children have different fathers and that her husband has another woman.
The suspect added that the victim hit her on the knee.
“Sobrang pagsisi po. Hindi ko naman gustong humantong sa ganong pangyayari,” the suspect said.
(I really regret it. I never intended for things to turn out that way.)
“Talagang napakasakit sa aming magkakapatid, sa mga anak niya. Hindi namin matanggap ang pangyayari. Buhay kinuha niya. Maari lang pagdusahan niya,” said Julie Nacin, the victim’s sister.)
(It’s really painful for us and her children. We still can’t accept what happened. She took a life, so she should pay for it.)
The suspect is detained in the custodial facility of the Taytay Police. She underwent inquest proceedings and is facing homicide charges. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
