Comelec suspends voter registration for Undas 2025

Comelec suspends voter registration for Undas 2025

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is suspending all voter registration activities from October 30 to November 2 in observance of Undas 2025.

"Bilang paggunita sa Undas (All Saints' Day at All Souls' Day), suspendido ang voter registration mula tanghali ng Oktubre 30, 2025 hanggang Nobyembre 2, 2025," the Comelec said in an advisory on Tuesday.

(In observance of Undas, we will suspend the voter registration from the afternoon of October 30 to November 2.)

"Kasama ng buong bansa, iginagalang natin ang alaala ng mga yumao na. Sa pamamagitan ng panalangin, pag-aalay, at pagninilay-nilay, pinapanatili nating buhay ang kanilang espiritu sa ating mga puso. Nawa'y makatagpo ng kapayapaan at liwanag ang kanilang mga kaluluwa," it said.

(Together with the entire nation, we respect our dearly departed. With our prayers, offering, and reflection, we keep their spirit alive. May their souls find peace and light.)

The poll body last week resumed the nationwide voter registration for the 2026 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections (BSKE). It opened on October 20, 2025 and will run until May 18, 2026.

Exempted in the voter registration period, however, are areas in the Bangsamoro.

"Hindi muna kami magpaparehistro mula October 21 sa Bangsamoro. Ire-resume namin ang registration ng Bangsamoro after ng parliamentary elections," said poll chief George Erwin Garcia.

(We will hold off the registration in BARMM. We will resume after the parliamentary polls.)

Applicants may register from Monday to Sundays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at any satellite registration sites or at their respective Comelec office of the election officer (OEO), according to the poll body. The voter registration period will likewise be opened in all types of applications including:

  • transfer of records
  • new registration
  • change of name and status
  • correction of entries
  • reactivation of registration records
  • inclusion of registration records,
  • and reinstating of name in the list of voters

Based on Comelec data, a total of 144,907 individuals registered to vote for the 2026 BSKE from October 20 to October 26, of which 130,720 applied for the barangay elections, and 14,187 registered to vote for the SK.

The Comelec earlier said it is targeting to register 1.4 million new voters for the 2026 BSKE during the months-long nationwide registration.

President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. in August signed into law the proposed measure seeking to postpone the BSKE from December 1, 2025 to the first Monday of November 2026, and every four years thereafter. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
