Thousands visit Metro Manila cemeteries ahead of Undas 2025


Thousands of people visited the tombs of their departed loved ones at cemeteries in Metro Manila on Friday, a day before the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day.

At the Manila North Cemetery, a total of 31,200 have been recorded from 5 a.m. to 12 noon, Manny Vargas reported on Super Radyo dzBB, citing data from the Manila Police District.

Some of the visitors had to take shelter under an overpass near the cemetery as rain poured in the area.

On the other hand, at total of 13,550 people visited the Manila South Cemetery as of 2 p.m. Some of the visitors have to stay outside the cemetery to take care of the pets they brought with them. Authorities earlier announced that pets are not allowed inside the cemetery.

At the Himlayang Pilipino Memorial Park in Quezon City, more than 6,000 visitors have been reported as of 12 noon, according to a report of Super Radyo dzBB's Glen Juego.

Operations manager Engineer Michael Abiog said more visitors are expected at Himlayang Pilipino until evening. 

Motorists heading to the area are advised to follow the rerouting plan, where the entrance is placed on the side of Himlayan Road. 

At the Pasig City Cemetery (Barracks), a total of 5,659 visitors have been recorded from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to Super Radyo dzBB’s Carlo Mateo.

Despite the cloudy weather, the temperature at the Pasig cemetery was hot, according to the radio news report. 

Meanwhile, at the Tugatog Cemetery in Malabon City, the local government was offering free candles and drinking water to the visitors. 

In Caloocan, the arrival of visitors at the Sangandaan Cemetery continues as of Friday noon.
