PNP asks public to be vigilant, report suspicious moves during Undas 2025
The Philippine National Police (PNP) said that their nationwide security and public safety plan has been activated to ensure a peaceful Undas 2025.
In a statement on Friday, PNP acting chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. shared that they have deployed police visibility and applied intensified security measures in transport terminals, cemeteries, and all public spaces nationwide ahead of the travel influx.
PNP said that 62,868 personnel of the PNP, Armed Forces of the Philippines, Bureau of Fire Protection and Philippine Coast Guard are deployed nationwide for Oplan Ligtas Undas 2025.
“We are committed to protecting every Filipino traveling to be with their loved ones this Undas. Our personnel are fully deployed, highly visible, and ready to respond to any incident. We urge the public to cooperate and remain vigilant,” he said.
Nartatez reminded PNP officers to remain alert, visible, and approachable, while he encouraged the public to report suspicious activities to the authorities.
“We remind the public to secure their homes before leaving, double-check locks, and avoid leaving valuables unattended. Simple precautions can prevent untoward incidents while families are away for the holidays. In case of emergencies, immediately call Unified 911 for prompt assistance,” he added.
As of 4 p.m. on Friday, the Manila Police District (MPD) reported that a total of 92,120 individuals monitored in public cemeteries in Metro Manila.
Around 53,700 people visited Manila North Cemetery, while 32,240 went to Manila South Cemetery.
A total of 3,860 individuals visited Laloma Cemetery, while 2,000 individuals were recorded at Manila Chinese Cemetery. Paco Park Cemetery has had 320 visitors so far.
Earlier, PNP stated that they will be on heightened alert status for Undas 2025, which meant increasing their personnel strength by 25% to ensure a safe observance of the holiday. —Jiselle Anne C. CasuciaN/LDF, GMA Integrated News
