Marcos commits to help in ensuring peace in Korean Peninsula
GYEONGJU, South Korea - President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has made a commitment to help in ensuring lasting peace in the Korean Peninsula.
This as the Philippines chairs the ASEAN Summit and Related Summits.
According to Yonhap News, Marcos and South Korean President Lee Jae Myung exchanged views on matters of shared interest, including bilateral relations, consular cooperation and issues concerning the Korean Peninsula during their bilateral meeting on Friday.
The two leaders also shared the view that the Korea-Philippines Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which will mark the first anniversary of its entry into force later this year, has had a tangible impact in expanding economic cooperation between the two nations.
Meanwhile, Lee expressed his appreciation to Marcos for his support in establishing the Korean Help Desk within the Philippine National Police to handle incidents and accidents involving Korean nationals.
They also agreed to strengthen regional cooperation to eradicate transnational crimes.
Marcos is in South Korea for the 2025 APEC Summit. He also met with business leaders as part of his visit. —KG, GMA Integrated News
