PH Army honors fallen heroes at Libingan ng mga Bayani

Members of the Philippine Army (PA) honored their fallen colleagues at the Libingan ng mga Bayani at Taguig City for Undas 2025.

According to a statement released on Saturday, PA and other partner agencies conducted synchronized candle-lighting and flaglet-setting tributes to fallen soldiers, heroes, national artists and scientists, and former Philippine presidents.

“May their light remind us that darkness will never prevail where courage, faith, and unity burn bright. The light we hold today must not fade after this ceremony. We must carry it in our hearts, in our actions, in our service, and in the way we treat one another as Filipinos,” said PA Support Command Acting Commander Major General Florante Sison.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Army said that they have deployed 320 personnel from PA, Explosive Ordnance Disposal / Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (EOD, CBRN) personnel, the Philippine Air Force (PAF), the Philippine Navy and the Philippine Marine Corps, the Philippine National Police, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and the Taguig City Traffic Management Office to guard the cemetery during the holiday.

As of 2024, it was reported that there were more than 53,000 remains interred at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.

An estimated 90,000 guests are expected to arrive over the weekend to honor their loved ones buried in the cemetery. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
