Over 2.4M people visited cemeteries, columbaria for All Saints' Day —PNP
The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday reported that more than 2.4 million individuals have already visited cemeteries and columbaria nationwide so far for Undas 2025.
In a statement, the PNP said that more than 2,210,070 persons had entered cemeteries and 197,070 had visited columbaria all over the country as of 12 p.m. of November 1, All Saints’ Day.
In the City of Manila alone, a total of 1,360,951 individuals had already visited cemeteries as of 6 p.m., the Manila Police District said.
The breakdown is as follows:
Manila North Cemetery - 1,177,431
Manila South Cemetery - 140,790
La Loma Cemetery - 37,100
Chinese Cemetery - 5,400
Paco Cemetery - 230
The PNP said that it implemented full-scale security and public safety operations as millions of Filipinos started to visit cemeteries and memorial parks.
Further, the PNP has deployed a total of 93,839 personnel under Oplan Ligtas Undas 2025, which consists of 31,056 PNP personnel, 20,134 personnel from other government agencies, and 42,649 force multipliers.
The PNP said police visibility is high with 5,018 Police Assistance Desks set up in 4,901 cemeteries and 1,531 Motorists Assistance Centers strategically placed along major highways and transport terminals nationwide.
The PNP also deployed security teams in 70 airports, 682 bus terminals, 363 seaports, and 78 train stations to ensure smooth passenger movement and public assistance for commuters returning to their provinces.
“We are in full compliance with the directive of President Marcos. This deployment reflects our commitment to guarantee the safety and peace of every Filipino family commemorating this important day,” Acting Chief PNP Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said.
Nartatez called for public cooperation and pointed out Unified 911’s role in providing real-time assistance.
Confiscated items
Meanwhile, the PNP recorded 2,722 confiscated prohibited items at cemetery gates, which include bladed weapons, alcoholic beverages, gambling paraphernalia, vape devices, and loud sound equipment.
The PNP reported a steady influx of visitors, with peak crowd volumes expected between noon and early evening.
The agency said its personnel remain on alert and are continuously conducting anti-criminality and law enforcement operations, which have led to arrests and seizures linked to illegal drugs, illegal gambling, loose firearms, and other violations since October 29.
“We appeal to everyone—be alert, patient, and considerate. Keep valuables secure, watch your children, and report any suspicious activity immediately. The police are everywhere, ready to help,” Nartatez said.
PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño, meanwhile, urged the public to dial 911 in case of emergency. —VAL/VBL, GMA Integrated News
