Western Visayas residents told to avoid non-essential trips amid Tino’s threat
The Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (RDRRMC) Western Visayas on Sunday advised residents in the region to refrain from non-essential activities amid the threat of Typhoon Tino.
In an advisory, the RDRRMC Western Visayas urged the public to avoid traveling for the meantime as “road conditions, sea travel, and flights may be severely disrupted. Dangerous winds, flooding, and landslides are expected in affected areas.”
The public is also told to remain indoors amid the dangerous weather condition. It added that transportation services may be suspended and road closures are likely, the RDRRMC said.
The disaster response authorities also advised everyone to monitor updates from the state weather bureau PAGASA and local government units
“Your cooperation is essential in ensuring public safety. Please prioritize your well-being and that of your family. Let us all remain vigilant and prepared,” the RDRRMC said.
As of 11 a.m., Eastern Samar as well as Dinagat Islands and Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands are under Signal No. 1.
Tino is expected to move generally westward over the next three days and make its initial landfall over Eastern Samar or Dinagat Islands on Monday late evening or on Tuesday early morning, said PAGASA. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
