PNP reports decline in 8 focus crimes from June to October 2025
The Philippine National Police (PNP) has observed a decline in the number of cases involving eight focus crimes from June to October this year.
The eight focus crimes include murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, and carnapping, involving both four-wheeled vehicles and motorcycles.
PNP acting chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said that there were 2,961 cases in June and the figure slid to 2,606 in October.
“Nakita natin pagbaba ng trend sa total ng 8 focus crimes, we started with 2,961 cases in June. Umakyat ng 3,304 cases in July. Muli, ito ay umakyat sa peak na 3,335 cases in August at tuloy-tuloy na itong bumababa nung September na may 2,845 cases. Hanggang bumaba ng 2,606 cases nitong nakaraang buwan ng October,” said Nartatez in a press briefing.

For murder cases, the PNP observed a downward trend from 295 in June to 239 in September. It slightly increased to 268 in October.
On the other hand, there were 82 cases in June, then it went up to 95 in September, and it fell to 72 in October.
Further, Nartatez said that physical injury cases went from 399 in June to 481 in August. It declined to 329 in September and further decreased to 315 in October.
The PNP chief also said that rape cases went down to 624 in August. It declined to 508 in September before sliding down further to 373 in October.
“Sa performance side, our case solution efficiency improved by 6.6%, from 68.82% in June to 69.42% in October,” said Nartatez. “Which means gumaganda ang kapasidad natin sa paglutas, pag-file, at pagpila ng kaso.”
