CMMA cites GMA News Online special report on Filipino farmers, Rice Tariffication Law
GMA News Online's special report on the plight of Filipino rice farmers with the implementation of the Rice Tariffication Law has received a special citation in the best investigative report category in the 47th Catholic Mass Media Awards.
“For Better Or Worse? The Plight of Filipino Farmers After Five Years of Rice Tariffication Law” was written by GMA News Online senior news producers Anna Felicia Bajo, who is covering Malacañang, and Ted Cordero, who is covering several beats in the business sector, including agriculture.
The investigative piece takes off on how rice farmers are dealing with the lower prices of unmilled rice, or palay, with some of them opting to sell scrap instead of planting rice.
The article, "Mother who lost son to Yolanda finds hope after encounter with Pope Francis,” by news producer Sherylin Untalan, was a finalist in the CMMA's Best Special Feature category.
The finalists in the 47th CMMA were announced on October 10, 2025 while the winners were announced online on October 24, 2025.
The awards night will be on November 19, 2025. –NB, GMA Integrated News
