DOH on code white alert for quick response to Typhoon Tino impact

The Department of Health (DOH) is on code white alert to ensure its readiness and quick response to the impact of Typhoon Tino in the Visayas and Mindanao.

In a Facebook post, the DOH said its Central Office in on code white alert while its DOH Operations Center has readied the needed medicines, medical equipment, and health emergency response teams for the areas affected by Tino.

The DOH Operations Center is also conducting a 24/7 monitoring of the situation to promptly respond to hard-hit areas.

A code white alert ensures the readiness of all needed medical and psychosocial support services that may be needed in responding to potential emergencies arising from the typhoon’s impact.

Meanwhile, the DOH in Central Visayas said it has sufficient stocks of medicines and clean water for residents affected by the typhoon in Cebu.

The DOH in Eastern Visayas also distributed medicines, health commodities, and hygiene kits to displaced residents temporarily staying in evacuation centers.

In Aklan, the DOH in Western Visayas and the local government unit also provided medicines to over 1,800 families in the province.

According to the state weather bureau’s 8 p.m. weather bulletin, Signal No. 4 is hoisted in the northernmost portion of Palawan (El Nido, Taytay, Araceli), including Calamian and Cuyo Islands.

Several areas in Luzon and Visayas are also under different wind signals.

Tino was last monitored over the coastal waters of Magsaysay, Palawan, with maximum sustained winds of 130 km/h near the center and gusts of up to 180 km/h. It is moving westward at 25 km/h. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
