6 bodies recovered from Agusan del Sur helicopter crash
Search and rescue teams have recovered six bodies from the Philippine Air Force (PAF) helicopter that crashed in Agusan del Sur on Tuesday.
“The search and rescue operations have led to the recovery of six bodies believed to be those of the pilot and crew members of the ill-fated Super Huey helicopter,” the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Eastern Mindanao Command said in a Facebook post.
“The identities of the fatalities are being withheld pending notification of their respective families,” it added.
The EastMinCom added that troops from the 60th Infantry Battalion under the 1001st Infantry Brigade and the 10th Infantry Division, all of the Philippine Army, promptly secured the crash site to ensure the area’s security.
The Philippine Army also extended its full support to the PAF in the ongoing investigation of the fatal crash.
The PAF helicopter was conducting humanitarian operations for communities affected by Typhoon Tino when it crashed in the vicinity of Loreto, Agusan del Sur.
The PAF initially said it lost communication with the Super Huey helicopter, prompting the PAF to immediately launch a search and rescue operation. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
