Iglesia ni Cristo to hold 3-day rally in Manila

Religious group Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) is set to hold a 3-day rally at Rizal Park in Manila from November 16 to 18.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) said it is expecting 300,000 people to attend the three-day event.

“Base po sa inisyal na binigay po ng intelligence unit ng [Directorate for Operations], ang number na binigay nila, original ho ay 300,000,” PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said in a press briefing on Wednesday.

(Based on the initial information provided by the intelligence unit of the Directorate for Operations, the number they gave, originally, was 300,000.)

However, Tuaño noted that this is just an initial expected number of participants in the gathering.

According to him, concerned police units are set to have a meeting on Wednesday afternoon to discuss their preparations for the event.

Tuaño said the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has committed an initial 9,829 personnel that will secure the rally.

The Manila City government also committed 14 ambulances to provide assistance in the event, he added.

According to Tuaño, the gathering was a "religious rally” and not a "political rally." —VAL, GMA Integrated News
