Frozen assets linked to flood control mess surged to P6.3B —AMLC
The amount of frozen assets of individuals and companies being investigated in relation to the flood control projects corruption scandal has breached P6 billion as the Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) secured a new freeze order from the Court of Appeals (CA).
In a statement, AMLC said the seventh freeze order secured from the CA “adds dozens of high-value properties and luxury vehicles to the growing list of frozen assets.“
In particular, the latest order covered 45 additional real estate properties and 81 vehicles, “including high-end sports cars, SUVs, and luxury motorcycles reportedly owned by former government officials.”
The anti-dirty money body also said the new freeze order supplements the first freeze order granted by the CA on September 15, 2025, marking a significant escalation in the investigation.
To date, the AMLC said it has frozen a total of 1,671 bank accounts, 58 insurance policies, 244 motor vehicles, 144 real properties, and 12 e-wallet accounts, with the total value of assets surging to P6.3 billion.
With the issuance of the seventh freeze order, this figure is expected to rise further, according to the anti-dirty money body.
“We assure the public that our efforts have not ceased,” said AMLC Executive Director Matthew David.
“We continue to pursue every lead, secure every necessary order, and hold accountable those who misuse public funds,” said David. —VAL, GMA Integated News
