Palace ‘unbothered’ over dip in Marcos’ trust, performance ratings

Malacañang is not bothered with a recent poll that showed a decline in the trust and performance ratings of President Ferdinand '’Bongbong” Marcos Jr., stressing that Marcos still enjoys the trust of most Filipinos.

In a press briefing on Thursday, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro was asked to comment on the latest Tugon ng Masa survey of OCTA Research, which showed a dip in the President’s trust and performance ratings for the third quarter of 2025.

“Pero nandodoon pa rin po...  Iyong majority po ay nandoon pa rin po iyong kanilang trust sa ating Pangulo,” Castro said.

(But the majority still place their trust in the President.)

“Sabi nga po natin, ano man ang numero, mataas, mababa at hangga’t nagtatrabaho ang ating Pangulo at ang gobyerno o para sa taumbayan tuluy-tuloy pa rin po, at hindi po tayo maaapektuhan ng anuman pong numero,” she added.

(Like what we said, whatever the number is, high, low, as long as the President is working and our government is there for the public, we are not affected by the figures.)

In OCTA Research’s latest Tugon ng Masa survey, Marcos’ trust ratings saw a 7-point drop from 64% in July 2025 to 57%.

A majority of his trust ratings came from Balance Luzon with 67%, followed by the National Capital Region with 55%.

His distrust ratings also saw a 5-point increase with a total of 25%, most of which came from Mindanao.

The President also suffered an 8-point drop in his performance ratings, from July 2025’s 62% to 54%. He registered a 26% dissatisfaction score.

“Even with the observed declines, President Marcos Jr. continues to enjoy majority trust and approval among Filipinos, maintaining both ratings above the 50% mark,” OCTA said.

On the other hand, Vice President Sara Duterte had a smaller drop in ratings, but saw a continued downward trend for both trust and performance ratings. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
