Marcos to Maynilad: Never lose sight of the people you serve
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday called on water concessionaire Maynilad to never lose sight of the public that they serve.
Marcos made the remark during the Public Offering Listing in Taguig City. He stressed that Maynilad’s listing reflects the growing confidence in the Philippine market and emphasizes the partnership between public and private entities in providing essential services to consumers.
“To our partners in Maynilad, never lose sight of the people you serve,” Marcos said in his speech.
The President assured Maynilad that his administration would always be supportive of its efforts in serving its customers.
“Be assured the government is always in support of your initiatives, especially now that you have entered this new phase in your service,” Marcos said.
He also emphasized the importance of honesty when it comes to public service, especially at a time of regaining public trust.
“As we face the many challenges ahead, from climate change to the rebuilding of public trust, may this day remind us that reform is built on work done with honesty,” Marcos said.
“Because I believe that when we do things with purpose and excellence, progress will flow just like water that is steady and life-giving,” he added.
In his speech, Marcos also said the listing invites more investors, noting that with the Initial Public Offering, “Maynilad welcomes scrutiny and accountability.”
“And in doing so, Maynilad can expand our capital markets and our shared belief that private enterprise can serve the public good,” Marcos said.
He added that this sends a message that transparency is a standard that all institutions must abide by.
Maynilad currently serves the West Zone of the Greater Metro Manila, which benefits millions of Filipinos.
Maynilad’s IPO is projected to be the country's largest listing for 2025 and considered to be the second largest IPO in the Philippines. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
