Marcos visits Liloan, Cebu to check relief ops for Tino victims
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. visited Liloan, Cebu on Friday to oversee the relief and recovery operations for those affected by Typhoon Tino.
Marcos went to Tiltilon Elementary School in Barangay Cotcot, which is currently serving as an evacuation center for 126 families or 509 individuals.
He distributed family food packs, health kits, hygiene kits, and sleeping kits from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). The agency also provided hot meals to the families temporarily staying in the school.
For its part, the Department of Health (DOH) - Central Visayas is conducting rapid health assessment in the evacuation center.
According to DOH-Central Visayas Development Management Officer Rolly Villarin, the agency is providing free medical consultations and essential medicines, such as maintenance medications, antibiotics, doxycycline for leptospirosis prevention, and anti-tetanus vaccines for individuals with injuries.
Villarin said that routine vaccinations for children are also being administered to prevent potential outbreaks of diseases while they are in the evacuation center.
Villarin also said that the DOH is conducting Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) assessments to ensure that the water in the evacuation center is safe for both drinking and utility purposes.
The DOH is also monitoring the condition of children, pregnant women, and nursing mothers in the evacuation center to ensure that they receive adequate nutrition, including sufficient supply of breast milk for babies.
After his visit to Liloan, Marcos went to the Talisay Sports Academy in Talisay City, where he also distributed aid to affected residents. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
