“PPA does not cancel trips. If PCG (Philippine Coast Guard) issues a no-sail policy, trips are automatically cancelled because ships are not allowed to sail. Shipping lines may also cancel trips subject to compliance with the terms of their CPC issued by Marina,” said the PPA in a statement.

Meanwhile, the International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) said that the Manila International Container Terminal (MICT) shall remain operational amid the effects of the Typhoon.

“Sa kasalukuyan, tuloy-tuloy ang operasyon sa Quay, Yard, at Gate. Gayunpaman, maaaring ipatupad ang stop-and-go operations kung kinakailangan, depende sa pagbabago ng bilis ng hangin habang papalapit ang bagyo,” the statement read.

(Currently, operations at the Quay, Yard, and Gate are ongoing. Despite this, we may still implement stop-and-go operations if needed, depending on the change in wind speeds as the typhoon approaches.)

PPA clarified that precautionary measures are being conducted to ensure the safety of the terminal, staff, and equipment during the effects of Typhoon Uwan. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
