Palace suspends gov't work in some regions on Nov. 10, classes on Nov. 10-11 due to Uwan
Malacañang on Sunday announced the suspension of government work in nine regions on November 10 and classes in 12 regions on November 10 to 11 in light of the impact of Super Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong).
Based on the Memorandum Circular No. 106 dated November 9 and signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, government work is suspended in the following regions on November 10, Monday:
- National Capital Region
- Cordillera Administrative Region
- Region I
- Region II
- Region III
- Region IV-A
- Region IV-B
- Region V
- Region VIII
Meanwhile, classes at all levels are suspended in the following 12 regions from November 10, Monday, to November 11, Tuesday:
- National Capital Region
- Cordillera Administrative Region
- Region I
- Region II
- Region III
- Region IV-A
- Region IV-B
- Region V
- Region VIII
- Region VI
- Region VII
- Negros Island Region
The memorandum circular said “agencies responsible for basic, vital and health services, preparedness and response duties must continue to remain operational.”
“To further ensure continuity of essential government functions, all other government agencies in the aforementioned Regions may implement alternate work arrangements, as may be necessary, subject to applicable laws, rules and regulations.”
According to the Palace, the localized cancellation or suspension of classes or work in government offices in other regions may be implemented by their respective Local Chief Executives, pursuant to relevant laws, rules and regulations.
The suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads, it added.
Uwan intensified and became a super typhoon on Sunday morning, according to PAGASA's 8 a.m. bulletin.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 5 was raised over four areas, while TCWS Nos. 4, 3, 2, and 1 were hoisted over some areas in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. —KG, GMA Integrated News
