AFP pauses joint exercise DAGIT-PA to focus on Uwan response
The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) on Sunday announced that its field training activities under the AFP Joint Exercise (AJEX) DAGIT-PA has been temporarily suspended to focus on the response to Super Typhoon Uwan.
“In view of the imminent threat posed by Super Typhoon “Uwan,” the AFP temporarily suspends all scheduled Field Training Exercises (FTX) under the AFP Joint Exercise (AJEX) DAGIT-PA 09-2025,” the AFP said in a statement.
“This critical decision is made to immediately redirect the focus and assets of the AFP's participating forces towards Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations,” it added.
According to the AFP, the suspension of the joint exercise specifically targets the field maneuvers in the Northern Luzon Command and Western Command Joint Area of Operations.
“The priority and resources of all personnel, including approximately 2,000 troops, are now fully devoted to pre-disaster preparedness and rapid response in affected areas,” the AFP said.
“The AFP assures the public that this immediate shift is a testament to our highest commitment: the safety and well-being of our citizens,” it added.
Started November 4, the AJEX DAGIT-PA 09-2025 was originally scheduled to be completed on November 14.
The exercise covers three major events including Command and Control, Cyber Defense Exercise, and the FTX. —Joviland Rita/RF, GMA Integrated News
