Laguna Lake reaches 'above critical level' amid heavy downpour from Uwan
The Laguna Lake reached the above critical level on Sunday as Super Typhoon Uwan continued to bring heavy rain to several areas in the country.
According to a social media post of Rizal Governor Nina Ynares, Laguna Lake has reached 12.70 meters as of 11 a.m., which is beyond its critical level of 12.50 m.
Meanwhile, the Upper Wawa Dam is at 125.35 meters above sea level (masl), which is below its spilling level of 135 masl.
Ynares assured that the Rizal local government will continue to monitor the Upper Wawa Dam and Laguna Lake.
She also urged the public to exercise caution amid the typhoon.
Based on PAGASA’s 11 a.m. cyclone bulletin, Signal No. 3 is hoisted in Laguna, Rizal, and Metro Manila as Uwan maintains strength.
The storm is expected to make landfall at or near its peak intensity over the central portion of Aurora on Sunday evening or early Monday morning. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
