CAAP: So far no major airport damage due to Super Typhoon Uwan reported
No major damage to airports as a result of Super Typhoon Uwan has been reported so far, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said Sunday.
"So far wala pa namang reported na damage...Minimal pa lang ang nare-receive namin especially sa Bicol Region," CAAP spokesperson Eric Apolonio said in an interview on Super Radyo dzBB.
Apolonio added that 233 flights scheduled for Sunday have been canceled: 193 domestic and 40 international.
Among Monday's flights, 148 domestic flights and 19 international flights have been canceled.
He also said that travelers stranded at any of the 44 CAAP-run airports are being provided hot meals and assistance.
Uwan made landfall in Dinalungan, Aurora at 9:10 p.m. Sunday. Four areas in Luzon are under Storm Signal No. 5. — BM, GMA Integrated News
