The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said over 15,000 cops will be deployed to secure the three-day rally of Iglesia ni Cristo in different areas in Metro Manila on November 16 to 18.

In a statement, the PNP said the police deployment will monitor the following areas:

  • EDSA Shrine,
  • Senate of the Philippines
  • People Power Monument
  • House of Representatives
  • Quirino Grandstand
  • Liwasang Bonifacio
  • Malacañang Park
  • Palace
  • other major areas

PNP acting chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. reaffirmed his “full respect” for the INC event as he committed to ensuring that the activity will be safe, peaceful, and orderly.

"We respect the rights of every Filipino to freely practice their religion. Our task is to ensure that this rally, like any peaceful gathering, remains safe for both participants and the surrounding community,” Nartatez said.

Inter-agency coordination meetings were already conducted to ensure a well-organized deployment and seamless support for the event, according to the PNP.

"We will be visible, vigilant, and ready to respond to any situation that may arise," Nartatez said.

For his part, PNP spokesperson Police Brigadier General Randulf Tuaño said: "Our personnel will focus on crowd management, traffic coordination, and ensuring that the areas surrounding the venues remain safe.”

“The public can rest assured that the PNP is on duty, looking after their security while respecting the sanctity of this religious gathering,” Tuaño added.
