WATCH: Uwan leaves communities isolated in some Luzon provinces
Some communities in Luzon provinces became isolated due to the impact of Tropical Cyclone Uwan, according to reports on GMA Integrated News’ Unang Balita on Tuesday.
In Camarines Norte, 80 barangays remained isolated following the impact of Uwan, according to a report of Darlene Cay.
Some houses, boats, covered court, and convention center were damaged.
Power supply and communication lines were still interrupted in the area.
The Department of Public Works and Highway (DPWH) is now investigating the incomplete construction of a seawall in the area that could have protected homes from the impact of Uwan.
Telecommunications was also a problem in Virac, Catanduanes, according to a report by Mariz Umali.
Some of the affected residents were roaming around the town to find areas with better reception of signal so they can contact their relatives.
They called on service providers to speed up the repair of affected facilities.
In Tagkawayan, Quezon, many residents with cellphones, flashlights, and other gadgets were trooping to free charging stations at the municipal hall amid the power outage.
In Nueva Ecija, floods hit the town of Carranglan.
Slope protection and gabion wire were damaged in Carranglan River in Baranay Burgos. The approach slab of Baluarte Bridge was damaged, which is part of the provincial road.
Five barangays in the town remained isolated.
In Laur town, some nipa huts were damaged after the water rose in Bato Ferry River. The Bankerohan River at the boundary of Palayan City and Bongabon town also swelled.
Power outages were still reported in half of the province.
In Dagupan City, some houses, cottages, and boats on coastal areas were also damaged by storm surge, according to a report by GMA Regional TV's Sendee Salvacio.
A signage fell on heavy equipment due to the strong winds.
Floods were also reported in the city, prompting affected residents to evacuate.
In Dipaculao, Aurora, some roads and houses were damaged, according to a report by Ian Cruz.
Small vehicles were prohibited from passing the affected national road because of the scattered debris.
According to the television news report, the road was damaged after a storm surge broke a seawall. This affected the motorists going to the northern part of the province.
In Metro Manila, floods were reported in Paco, Manila after a pumping station broke amid the heavy rains, according to a report of Jhomer Apresto.
