INC to call for accountability for flood control mess at 3-day rally

Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) on Friday said its rally at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila from November 16 to 18 aims to call for accountability for the corruption in flood control projects.

In a statement, the INC said the “rally for transparency, accountability, justice, and peace” is set to highlight the public clamor for a proper and transparent probe into the anomalous flood control projects and other climate-tagged projects “where over a trillion pesos were estimated to have been lost due to corruption since 2023.”

INC Spokesperson and Minister of the Gospel Bro. Edwil Zabala pointed out that the gathering is not intended to interfere in politics.

“This November 16-18 rally is not to interfere in politics but to express our sentiment and lend the voice of the INC to the calls of many of our countrymen condemning the enormous evil involving many government officials,” he said.

Zabala also cited the religious group’s right to express themselves under the Constitution.

“We are appealing to the government to conduct a just and open investigation of all who are allegedly involved so that the perpetrators will be held accountable and the funds that they have stolen will be  returned to the public coffers,“ Zabala said.

On the first day Zabala said there will be a program that will start at 4 p.m. at the Quirino Grandstand.

The expected speakers are INC ministers but non-INC members whose proposed speeches are in line with the group’s call are also welcome, Zabala said.

According to the INC spokesperson, the three-day rally has permits from local and national level authorities. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
