Juan Ponce Enrile's memorial reception schedule released by kin

The family of late Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile on Friday announced the memorial reception for the former senate president. 

In her Facebook account, Katrina Ponce Enrile said the memorial reception would take place from November 16 to 18 and November 20 to 21 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at Dasmariñas Village in Makati City. 

''On behalf of our family, I invite all who wish to honor my father, Juan Ponce Enrile’s memory, to join us for public viewing,'' Katrina said. 

She added that a Holy Mass would be held at 6 p.m. daily.

''Thank you for your continued love and support during this time. We are grateful to honor his memory with you,'' she said.

Enrile passed away on Thursday afternoon. He was 101 years old. 

President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. had dubbed Enrile as "an icon in the pantheon of Philippine history."

Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on Friday aslo expressed condolences to the family of Enrile.

''I extend my deepest condolences to the family of the late Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Juan Ponce Enrile, a legal luminary and political titan whose contributions to public life profoundly shaped the history of our country,'' Bersamin said in a statement. 

''Juan Ponce Enrile was an icon of stability during times of tribulations in our history. His memorable mantra - Gusto ko happy ka! - is forever etched in the consciousness of the Filipino people whom he loyally served until the end with utmost dedication and unqualified commitment,'' he said.

Before he went out of retirement when he was appointed as the President's top legal counsel in 2022, Enrile already served the government in the executive and legislative branches for 50 years when he bowed out of the Senate in 2016. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
