LOOK: What does the ASEAN 2026 logo mean?

The Philippines on Friday unveiled its logo for next year’s ASEAN Summit.

This includes a rice stalk, symbolizing nourishment and abundance. It reflects ASEAN's commitment to food security —each grain representing a member-state, with the 11th marking Timor-Leste's entry into the Community.

The weave pattern embodies the strength found in interconnection. It reflects the coming together of cultures, values, and aspirations; distinct threads bound by a shared purpose, forming a vibrant tapestry of unity and collective progress.

The wave, meanwhile, signifies maritime security and cooperation. It echoes the waters that physically connect the regional bloc.

The balangay, inspired by the traditional Filipino boat called the Balangay, is the essence of ASEAN's journey - many nations, each with its own unique character, moving forward together aboard a single vessel.

The text means maritime security and cooperation. It echoes the waters that physically connect member states: fluid, borderless, and enduring.

It is through these waters that trade, dialogue, and solidarity have long flowed, forming the lifeblood of regional unity. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
