INC members deny receiving P3,000 for Quirino Grandstand rally

INC members deny receiving P3,000 for Quirino Grandstand rally

Religious group Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) on Monday released a video showing some members denying they were paid P3,000 to attend the anti-corruption rally on Sunday.

The video with the compilation of statements from the protesters was uploaded by INC broadcast media’s official Facebook page “INC News and Updates.”

The names of the members were not disclosed in the video.

“Walang pong bayad sa amin dito (We don’t get paid here),” one of the protesters said.

“Ang dami pong kapatid na Iglesia Ni Cristo na nandito po ngayon. Tapos, P3,000 per head? Nagpapatawa po kayo. Sabi nga ng ibang kapatid dito, baka kami po ang magbigay sa inyo ng P3,000,” another protester said.

(There are so many Iglesia Ni Cristo brothers and sisters here today. Then, P3,000 per head? You’re kidding. Some of our brothers and sisters here said, ‘We can give you that P3,000.’)

This is following some posts on social media claiming that the attendees of the INC rally were allegedly paid P3,000.

INC organized a three-day rally from November 16 to 18 at the Quirino Grandstand in Manila to call for accountability amid the anomalous flood control projects in the government.

On the first day of the protest Sunday, the Manila Police District (MPD) said the crowd has reached 650,000 people at 6 p.m.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Philippine National Police said the first day was "generally peaceful."

Around 110,000 camped out overnight at the venue for the second day of the protest on Monday, according to MPD spokesperson Police Major Philipp Ines. —AOL, GMA Integrated News
