Imee Marcos dares First Family: Take hair follicle drug test
Senator Imee Marcos, sister of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., on Tuesday dared her brother to undergo hair follicle drug test to dispel accusations he and the First Family are using illicit drugs.
The senator made the remarks after her nephew, House Majority Leader and Ilocos Norte 1st District Representative Ferdinand Alexander "Sandro" Marcos, denied Imee's allegations they were illegal drugs users, saying her move was "not a conduct of a true sibling".
"Gustong paingayin ni Sandro ang usap-usapang hindi ako tunay na kapatid. Isa lamang ang solusyon: Magpapa-DNA test ako, magpa-hair follicle test sila," Imee said on a Facebook post.
(Sandro wants to make rumors of me not being a true Marcos. There is only one solution: I will take a DNA test and they will take a hair follicle test.)
In an interview with Balitanghali, Presidential Communications Office chief Secretary Dave Gomez branded as rehash the call for the President to undergo a hair follicle test.
"Sabi ko nga lumang tugtugin na ito. Mas maraming importanteng bagay ang dapat tutukan ng ating Pangulo at ng ating pamahalaan, ng Kongreso, ng Senado, at ng executive department," said Gomez.
(As I have said, this is issue has been rehashed many times. There are a lot more important things that the President, the government, the Congress, the Senate, and the executive department should focus on.)
GMA News Online also reached out to Sandro for comment on the matter and will publish it once available.
Speaking at the rally of the Iglesia Ni Cristo at the Quirino Grandstand on Monday evening, Imee accused her brother, the First Lady and some of the President's friends of using illegal drugs.
Malacanang rejected the allegations as a "desperate move".
"This is definitely a desperate move. Ang pinag-uusapan sa peace rally ay patungkol sa di umanong korapsyon. Ano ang dahilan ni Senator Imee na ang sariing kapatid ay siraan niya?" Castro said.
(This is definitely a desperate move. They said they were calling for a peace rally for anti-corruption. What is Senator Imee's motive for disparaging her brother?) —AOL, GMA Integrated News
