Ilocos Norte mayors called for a meeting amid Marcos alleged drug use — Imee Marcos
The League of Municipalities in the Philippines (LMP) — Ilocos Norte chapter has called for an emergency meeting to address "highly urgent matters", according to Senator Imee Marcos.
Marcos shared an advisory on Tuesday, with the organization calling on its chapter-members to attend a meeting slated on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.
"Your immediate presence and full participation are critically important. We will be addressing highly urgent matters that require the unified and prompt action of all member-mayors," the advisory reads.
"Strictly no proxies. A 100% attendance is expected and greatly appreciated. Thank you for giving this your highest priority," it added.
Marcos, for her part, called on the member-mayors to take precaution.
"Sa aking mga Minamahal na llocano, ngauon pa lamang ay nauunawaan ko na kung may mga gagawin kayo para hindi kayo mapaginitan. Huwag nyo akong alalahanin. Alam natin at ng llocos ang buong katotohanan," she said.
"Ang hiling ko na lamang ay mag-ingat kayo, pangalagaan nyo ang inyong sarili at nasasakupan mula sa Palasyo at kay Sandro. Kaya ito ni Manang," she added.
Speaking at the rally of the Iglesia Ni Cristo at the Quirino Grandstand on Monday evening, Imee accused her brother, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr., of using drugs, an allegation that Malacañang called "desperate."
The senator also alleged that the First Lady and some of the President's friends were using illegal drugs.
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro called Imee's allegations a "desperate move."
"This is definitely a desperate move. Ang pinaguusapan sa peace rally ay patungkol sa di umanong korapsyon. Ano ang dahilan ni Senator Imee na ang sariling kapatid ay siraan niya?" Castro said. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
