Nearly 70 kilos of uninspected pork seized in GenSan

Nearly 70 kilograms of pork that were not inspected were confiscated in a General Santos City market due to health concerns.

According to a report in “24 Oras” on Tuesday, most of the pork was from a meat shop while the pieces of lechon baboy or roasted pork came from another store.

The City Veterinary Office said the hogs did not pass through the slaughterhouse before being butchered to ensure they were safe from any diseases.

The office also summoned the owners of the shops where the meat were seized for violating the Meat Inspection Code.

Chemical was doused on the confiscated meat before these were buried.

Authorities are also monitoring the suspicious sale of pork online at very cheap prices. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
