Recto and Go were appointed by the President following the Cabinet revamp last week after Lucas Bersamin and Amenah Pangandaman quit their respective posts as executive secretary and budget chief.

Recto earlier said he aims to enhance government services and ensure the implementation of the Philippine Development Plan for 2023–2028.

He said his marching orders as Executive Secretary would be simple: to focus on governance, monitor the performance of departments and maximize their outputs to ensure that they are not distracted by political noise, and see to it that government agencies are doing their job and delivering their promises to Filipinos.

Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said Bersamin and Pangandaman resigned voluntarily after their names were mentioned in the flood control projects controversy. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
