Marcos: Sports builds character, makes better citizens
Sports activities build a person’s character and help them become a better person, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. said on Wednesday as he led the reopening of the PhilSports Complex in Pasig City.
“There is no other activity that builds character better than sports. There is no other activity, especially for young people. Dahil manalo matalo (Whether you win or lose), it helps you become a better person,” the President said in his message.
Marcos recalled that in his younger years, his father, the late President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. made him try almost all sports activities.
He said the PhilSports Complex would help Filipino athletes sharpen their skills and do better in local and international competitions.
The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) reopened the reconstructed and newly-refurbished facility, which includes athletes’ dormitories, sports museum, athletes’ dining hall, and sports offices.
The grand re-launch, presented by the Office of the President and First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos, is a milestone for the PSC as the last renovation of the PhilSports Complex was done in 2019.
Meanwhile, PSC Chairman Patrick Gregorio thanked all sports stakeholders, partner government agencies, sports associations and the private sector who extended their support for the much-awaited reopening of the refurbished sports facility. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
