Marcos' wealth grows by 1,600% from P79M in 2005 to P1.375B in 2024


President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr.'s net worth increased by more than 1,600% from 2005, when he was governor of Ilocos Norte, to the end of 2024, as President of the country—a period of almost 20 years.

According to Raffy Tima's report, citing the analysis of GMA Integrated News Research, on "24 Oras," Marcos declared a net worth of P79 million in 2005 and P1.375 billion on December 31, 2024. 

This is according to an assessment by Cuervo Appraisers, a professional asset valuation company, which has been evaluating the value of Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos' pieces of property since 1997.

Marcos' SALN showed that their net worth went up to P120 million in 2007, his last year as governor.

In 2008, as an Ilocos Norte congressman, their net worth increased to almost P180 million.

Marcos' net worth increased in 2009 by more than P135 million to over P315.5 million because of his share in a Cabuyao property that the Sandiganbayan ordered returned to his family.

In 2010, as a senator, Marcos' SALN indicated a net worth of P311.5 million.

Their net worth increased to P437 million in 2012 because of investments, shares of stock, and an art collection.

Their net worth increased even with liabilities of more than P34 million.

According to Cuervo's appraisal, their net worth went up to P510 million in 2014.

By 2015, their net worth reached P533 million.

The net worth was at P619 million when his term as senator ended in 2016.

The First Couple's net worth was over P908 million in 2022, when Marcos won the presidency.

His latest SALN shows a net worth of P1.375 billion, as appraised by Cuervo.

It was in 2012 when Marcos started to declare a net worth based on the rules of the Civil Service Commission.

Marcos declared a P193-million net worth that year.

In 2014, the net worth reached almost P200.6 million, even with liabilities of more than P27 million.

In 2015, ahead of his candidacy for vice president, Marcos' net worth rose to more than P211 million.

In his last declaration as a senator in 2016, his net worth went down slightly to almost P203.8 million.

Marcos ran and won the presidency in 2022.

His latest net worth declaration, according to CSC rules is P389 million by the end of 2024.
