Nov.30 rallies open to those who want corrupt accountable, says organizers

The groups behind the November 30 protest rallies said their events are open to anyone who wants the corrupt to be held accountable for their actions.

In Dano Tingcungco’s  24 Oras report on Wednesday, the organizers of the November 30 Trillion People Mobilization Kilusang Bayan Kontra Kurakot (KBKK) “Baha sa Luneta 2.0” Rally said the activities would center around a program from 9 a.m. to the afternoon.

During a press conference in Quezon City, the Koalisyong Kilusang Bayan Kontra Kurakot led by the Bagong Alyansang Makabayan announced preparations for the Bonifacio Day Event in Manila are beginning this week in various locations.

"Ito ay rally ng pagpapanagot. so ang mga pupunta doon na ang linya nila ay depensahan si BBM, Bring him home, protektahan si Sara, medyo you will feel very awkward. and siguro, 'wag na kayong pumunta," said Teddy Casino, Bagong Alyansang Makabayan national president.

(This is a rally demanding accountability. So if there are those attending whose lines are to defend President Ferdinand Marcos Jr, Bring Rodrigo Duterte home, or to protect Sara Duterte, you will feel very awkward. Perhaps it would be best for you not to join.)

Also taking part in the Luneta rally is a coalition called the Working People Against Corruption or WPAC -11 composed of unions and workers.

“Nananawagan po ang grupo na ito sa dalawang grupo na nag-aaway ngayo– Marcos-Duterte– na mag-resign sila parehas upang bigyan ng puwang ang gobyernong para sa mamamayan,” said WPAC-11 Co-convenor Ed Kline during a separate press event.

(Our group is asking to the two sides fighting each other-- the Marcoses and Dutertes-- to both resign to give way to a government for the people.)

Meanwhile, civil society groups said they are also ready for a protest rally that is expected to draw half a million participants in EDSA.

Similar to the Luneta contingent, the civil society groups said they want all those involved in corruption to be held accountable.

“Ang tunay na pagsisisi ay may kasamang pagbabalik ng mga ninakaw. Return what you stole. Face the consequences, there is no healing without justice,” said Reverend Monsignor Manny Gabriel of the Clergy for Good Governance during their own media conference.
