Marcos quips Cabinet shakeup, tells FL Liza she'll be part of it
President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. made a quip Thursday about Cabinet shakeup in his speech during the 2025 Bagong Bayani Awards.
In his salutations, Marcos mentioned his wife, First Lady Louise ''Liza'' Araneta-Marcos, saying that she is often traveling to Europe to assist the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) with its activities.
''She has become our ambassador now for migrant workers, it's your new designation. 'Di ba magka-Cabinet shakeup tayo? So kasama ka na doon...'' Marcos said as he continued with his speech.
His remarks came following the latest Cabinet revamp, with former executive secretary Lucas Bersamin and former Budget secretary Amenah Pangandaman exiting the Marcos administration.
Bersamin was replaced by Finance Secretary Ralph Recto while Pangandaman was replaced by Budget Undersecretary Rolando Toledo.
Bersamin denied that he resigned contrary to the statement of Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro that he had quit out of delicadeza.
Asked for clarification if there's indeed a Cabinet shakeup, Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Atty. Claire Castro said there's no announcement yet on that.
''Tingnan na lang po natin kasi kung nakita ninyo po na parang pabiro po iyong pagkakasabi ng Pangulo, so, iyon muna po tayo – face value. Sa ngayon po ay wala pa po sa ating ina-announce or sinasabing update patungkol diyan,'' she said.
